ULTRASONICS

This system was designed, engineered and built to ultrasonically weld plastic handles into medication tablets for the pharmaceuticals industry. The handles and tablets are automatically placed into ten position holding pallets that are conveyed and loaded into the welding system. As the pallet is loaded the presence / absence of the product, for each position in the pallet, is verified using photo-optic thru-beam sensors. The pallet is then cycled through the system via a servo controlled belt conveyor. Pallets are indexed and clamped in position beneath the welders. If product is detected in the pallet, the welder cycles fusing the plastic handle into the tablet. An inductive data carrier is embedded into each of the pallets and as the pallet exits the welding system, pass / fail data is written to each of these carriers. This data is then sent to the automated packaging equipment utilized in the work cell.
